One of my favorite locations for engagement photos in Newport, Rhode Island is Second Beach. Mei and Nick reached out to me as they were going to be traveling from West Virginia for the weekend to celebrate their engagement in Rhode Island. We lucked out and got the most perfect weather in New England for it being early March. Their final gallery consisted of the most effortless and classic vibes, from the golden hour sunlight to their timeless outfit choices, it truly felt like this session came right out of my photographer dreams!

Session Preparation



Before it was actually time to photograph this super sweet newly engaged couple, I had sent them my complete engagement session guide containing all of my greatest tips for their session, outfits, and location. Choosing your outfits for your engagement session can really pull everything together in the final images. I am always available for my couples to email me if they have any questions about outfits or need advice deciding between two pieces. I want your engagement photos to come out exactly as you are picturing it in your head.

Photographing Genuine Moments


We started the session strolling along the shoreline, where Mei wore a beautiful white, satin high-neck dress. Nick had on a classic, white satin button down paired with black dress pants. This perfect combination created the most timeless feel for their session. With every new prompt I gave them, these two were laughing and embracing each other which in turn created the most genuine moments. It was so clear that their love is rooted in joy and deep friendship.  

Golden to Blue Hour

 

As we began to wrap up our session, the sun dipped just beyond the trees. This allowed for what we as photographers know as "blue hour". While it's not technically an hour, it is a beautiful about 20 minutes where the sky transforms from the golden sunset hues to pink and blue cotton candy dreams.

We ended by walking further down the beach, and stopping by a grand rock formation meeting the shore. The sky was a perfect pastel blue. Mei and Nick brought such a fun energy, were true to themselves, and trusted me every step of the way. This allowed for their final gallery to be full of natural images that felt true to them.
